Description: From the trailhead go east (left). The road climbs slightly and rounds the hill. In one mile a two track comes in from the right. Go left as it drops into a shallow drainage for 1/2 mile.  The two track then begins the steep ascent up to the top of the Uncompahgre  Plateau turning into the rough Snowshoe Trail (FS 607). After topping out at mile 4  turn right and head SE along the unmarked Rim Trail. It will go past Big Pond in 1/2 mile. Continue for another 3 1/2 mies until the two track intersects with the well maintained Divide Road. Go right and in less than 1/4 mile look for the Ute Trail (FS 608)  on your right. The  single track trail descends through the aspens on this technical section.  The trail continues down the drainage and begins a traverse around to the north (right) through scrub and pinions eventually widening to a rough two track. The road will climb slightly before meeting up with the first road at mile 15.6. Go left to reach the trailhead.
